Exploring the Potentials of VR in Education: Enrol in the 'Future of Mobility' course for Immersive Learning!

2024/03/19

In a recent groundbreaking lecture for the Verkehr I and Verkehr II courses, Prof. Eva Kassens-Noor, supported by team members, introduced an innovative approach to teaching. Leveraging the immersive VR Spectra Cities environment, students actively engaged as avatars, shaping discussions on transportation planning concepts. This interactive session marked a significant milestone in the Institute of Transport Planning and Traffic Engineering's teaching methodologies, providing firsthand experience in virtual learning.

Ryan Rzepecki from Spectra Cities and Andreea Ion Cojocaru from NUMENA, joined the lecture to share insights on the cutting-edge work their teams are doing in this sphere. The enthusiastic participation of students enriched the venture into the metaverse, highlighting the potential of immersive technologies in education.

Building on this momentum, the department introduces “Future of Mobility”, a course designed to equip students with advanced computational methods and simulation approaches in transport planning and traffic engineering. Utilizing resources like the scAInce Lab's Virtual Reality equipment, students will explore virtual environments like Spectra City, gaining insights into research and practice applications.

Throughout the semester, students will tackle diverse topics, from extreme event simulation to emotional evaluation in virtual environments. Guided by expert lecturers, they will delve into ongoing research endeavours, fostering collaboration and innovation.

The seminar, conducted in English, offers access to global perspectives in the field, with a focus on group projects and presentations. Enrolment is limited, ensuring an optimized learning experience within lab facilities. Don't miss this opportunity to shape the future of transportation through immersive education, building on the successes of our venture into the metaverse!
