Darmstadt in focus: Experience plastics recycling up close

A special highlight of the Open Hub Days awaits you in Darmstadt! From November 4 to 7, 2024, the partners of the AI Hub in and around Darmstadt will open their doors and invite you to a series of exciting events. During these four days, you will experience the individual steps of plastics recycling – from collection and sorting to processing and recycling.

On November 7, 2024, a very special highlight of the Open Hub Days awaits you at TU Darmstadt. Our event on this day offers you the unique opportunity to experience the future of plastics recycling up close!

PacK3Ing Analyzer – The sorting demonstrator in action (12:00 to 14:00, location tba)

Experience the PacK3Ing Analyzer, a state-of-the-art sorting demonstrator that impressively shows how intelligent sensor technology can precisely analyze and sort waste from recyclable waste. The components of lightweight packaging waste are checked in real time and the results are displayed directly on a screen. This technology not only demonstrates the high accuracy of waste sorting, but also its crucial importance for the recycling process. Only precise sorting can produce the unmixed materials needed to manufacture high-quality recycled products. The PacK3Ing Analyzer illustrates how crucial this step is for an efficient and sustainable circular economy.

Workshop “Life Cycle Assessment in a Nutshell ”(18:00 – 19:30, Campus Stadtmitte, room tba) On the same day you have the opportunity to participate in the workshop “Life Cycle Assessment in a Nutshell”. This workshop offers an introduction to the science of life cycle assessment. After a theoretical introduction, participants will become active themselves and can better understand the environmental impact along the entire value chain through practical exercises.
