Chile Excursion 2025

September and October 2025

2025/01/13

ISM+D is planning a two-week excursion to Chile in late September and early October 2025. Located in the far southwest of South America, Chile is known for its breathtaking landscapes and high mountain peaks, as well as its variety of natural features, ranging from the driest desert in the world to rainforests and glaciers. This unique area also poses challenges for the AEC industry, as it is often confronted with extreme natural events such as earthquakes, floods and forest fires, which are becoming more frequent due to climate change.

We are planning the following activities for our stay in Santiago de Chile:

Workshop with architecture and civil engineering students from the Universidad Católica de Chile

Visits to earthquake-isolated buildings, infrastructures, industries and technology centers.

In the northern region of Chile, we plan to visit large solar plants, open-pit mines for copper and lithium extraction and large telescopes in the Atacama Desert.

The second part of the trip includes a visit to the southern region, where we will learn about timber production in all its phases, from the forest to the building.

The excursion is aimed at all students of the department.

Further information on the registration procedure will follow shortly.
