Project content Our civil order and security are constantly at risk from crime, terrorism and extremism. If a security-relevant event occurs, it is the task of criminal prosecution to determine the perpetrator or perpetrators and the context of the crime and to prevent future criminal offences. The collection of all findings, their compilation, evaluation and transmission are time-critical processes. At present, there is no technical tool that allows a coherent on-site recording and description of complex location situations. In addition, crime scene and investigation work is often characterized by a large number of manual process steps. A demand-oriented, informatic and process-logical support of these activities does not take place so far.
The aim of the research project is to close this gap by developing a mobile computer-based system (INSITU) for the on-site description of complex search situations. INSITU is characterized by the four core functions “networked”, “multimodal”, “quality-assured” and “mobile computer-based”. The central element of INSITU is a spatial-semantic data model based on technologies and concepts of Building Information Modeling. This model serves to combine all data collected on site and is complemented by a formalized process model of the activities to be performed. The recording of the data takes place multimodally with the help of mobile computers and sensors (e.g. depth sensors, cameras). The networked provision of the model allows parallel data acquisition by several persons. Supplemented by mechanical testing mechanisms, the quality of the data and processes is ensured and the fast, context-sensitive transmission of information is made possible.
