Design and construction
The main research area Design and Construction encompasses constructive construction engineering with the topics structural design, structural mechanics, materials technology and production, construction and joining as well as their constructional realization.
In addition to general material research, the research area is divided into the fields steel and metals, glass and polymers as well as concrete, masonry and timber. This is complemented by the construction and functionality related topics structural mechanics, building physics and façade as well as the field of manufacturing technologies such as, for example, additive manufacturing. Based hereupon, the topics new materials and their fabrication, innovative constructions, integral buildings and building systems are elaborated. Research partners include institutes providing public funding for fundamental research as well as industry partners for application-oriented and product related research.
