Load-bearing behavior of fastenings in clay construction

The aim of the project is to develop planning and design principles for load-bearing dowel and anchor fastenings, taking into account the material-specific characteristics of clay masonry as an anchoring base.

Project content Due to their low primary energy requirements, reusability, and availability, clay building materials are ideal for resource-efficient and sustainable construction. Although there are now some design guidelines for clay masonry, there are currently no regulations governing load-bearing connections. The research project therefore aims to develop essential principles for the load-bearing behavior of dowel and anchor fastenings in clay masonry.
