Project content The research network MuSan develops innovative, sustainable, and multifunctional solutions for the application of sandwich elements in construction. The aim is to unlock the untapped potential of these lightweight and energy-efficient building components. New design concepts and non-destructive testing methods are being developed to enhance the efficiency, safety, and durability of sandwich structures. The focus also includes the integration of secondary functional layers such as photovoltaics and sensor technology (“Smart Sandwich”), modular systems for flexible applications, as well as the exploration of sustainable core materials and recycling strategies. Through close collaboration between research and industry, comprehensive solutions are created for a resource-efficient, climate-friendly, and future-oriented construction approach.
