Geotechnical excursion with destinations in the Black Forest

2024/11/07

Last week, after a long break, the Institute of Geotechnical Engineering once again went on a multi-day excursion – this time to the Black Forest!

A colourful variety of geotechnical structures and special solutions as well as those at the interface with hydraulic engineering were visited by a group of 19 students and three members of staff from the Institute. From classic mining at the Forbach pumped storage power station to the maintenance and management of the Upper Rhine and infrastructure structures at the Rastatt Tunnel and the A8 motorway near Pforzheim.

Thanks to the great support of the companies and clients involved, the students were able to gain unique insights that will have a lasting effect on their future studies and professional life.

Many thanks at this point to Porr, EnBW, Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsamt Oberrhein, Deutsche Bahn AG, Züblin Spezialtiefbau.
