KlarText Prize for Science Communication 2025

Katharina Bensing receives award

2025/11/17

Katharina Bensing was awarded the Klaus Tschira Foundation's KlarText Prize for Science Communication 2025 for the best infographic. The nationwide prize is endowed with 7,500 euros and honors young researchers who communicate their scientific work in a particularly understandable and vivid way.

In her infographic “Fish understand the language of water,” she illustrates how fish perceive the slightest fluctuations in currents during their migrations and use them for orientation. This is based on her doctoral thesis in ethohydraulics, in which she dealt intensively with the perception of flow information.

With this award, the Klaus Tschira Foundation, founded by SAP co-founder Klaus Tschira, has been bringing science to the public's attention since 1997. It supports projects throughout Germany that make science, mathematics, and computer science accessible to a broad audience, thereby strengthening the bridge between research and society.

The award ceremony took place on November 13 in Heidelberg.
