Double Degree Programme – Frankreich

There are contracts with École Centrales in Lyon, Nantes and Marseilles.

With the Écoles Centrales in Lyon and Nantes, the modularised study programmes were redesigned so that students can study in the following structure:

The application must be submitted in the 1st semester of the Master's programme at the latest.

Application documents (deadline ends on Nov. 30th)

  • Online application form of the International Relations & Mobility Office
  • Preliminary Study Plan
  • Tabular curriculum vitae
  • Current language certificate not older than 2 years
  • Performance overview
  • Letter of motivation
  • Letter of confirmation from the home university that the student has been nominated for the programme (when applying to ECL)
  • Students are selected according to their performance level, necessary basic requirements, motivation and language skills
  • After the students have been proposed by the department, the application is forwarded to the International Relations & Mobility Office, which decides on the nomination
  • Upon completion of this process, the student has to re-apply to the ECL
  • After nomination, the application must be received by ECL by April 15th of the respective year. The letter of acceptance should be sent by June 1st
  • The International Office will also be informed by June 1st
  • In order to be admitted, TUDa students must have completed their BA studies and the first year of the Master's programme. – At least 240 ECTS completed courses must be proven before starting
  • No tuition fees are charged
  • The student is responsible for a valid health insurance for the entire period at the partner university
  • All travel costs to the host country including accommodation, living expenses, books, possible costs for the student union etc. must be paid by the student themselves
  • The partner university will assist in the search for suitable accommodation
  • Students are entitled to participate in the introductory programme for foreign students
  • Students are subject to the rules and regulations of the partner university during their stay there
  • For the first 12 months, students are granted ERASMUS student status
  • Sufficient language skills are required

Master Programme in Civil Engineering (120 ETCS)

Awarded degree: Diplome d’Ingénieur

Language of instruction: French (and partly English)

Curriculum and thesis

For the application, a study plan for the total duration of the stay must be drawn up. A Learning Agreement, which can be changed during the stay, must be signed by the home university.

In the last semester of the curriculum, students devote themselves full-time to their final thesis. The thesis is supervised by members of the faculty of the home university as well as of the partner university. The thesis should be written at the partner university (exceptions can be discussed). The topic of the thesis must be approved in writing beforehand. The final thesis should preferably be written in English, but by mutual agreement it is also possible to write the thesis in German or French. A short summary of at least 4 pages in the language of the home university as well as an abstract in English should be submitted. The defence of the work should be in English or in the language of the partner university. A copy is sent to the home university and included in the study file.

Checking the academic performance

At the end of each academic year, the partner university submits a copy of the credits (in English) to the home university.

Specifications:

  • Before visiting the partner university, a preparatory course in mathematics, which takes place between June and July and is organised by the TUDa, is obligatory. This course is held by French double degree students
  • Good knowledge in mathematics, course “Finite Element Methods I” and course “Continuum Mechanics I”

Master Programme in Environmental Engineering (120 ETCS)

Awarded degree: Diplome d’Ingénieur

Recommendations:

  • Good knowledge of mathematics
  • ECL course “IDM” (Material Engineering) not available at TUDa
  • “Technical Hydromechanics and Hydraulics”, “Technical Thermodynamics I”, which are offered during the Bachelor's degree at TUDa, should be attended, as they are already taught in “Classes Préparatoires” at ECL
