Project content The EPoNa research network (upgrading of wastewater ponds to produce irrigation water using the example of the Cuvelai-Etosha Basin in Namibia), coordinated by TU Darmstadt, aims to upgrade and expand a four-stage wastewater pond system in the northern Namibian town of Outapi so that the treated wastewater can be reused for irrigating fodder crops – and the nitrogen and phosphorus compounds that would otherwise have to be eliminated can be used as fertilizer.
