Project name Synchronized and energy-adaptive production technology for the flexible alignment of industrial processes with fluctuating energy supply (1st and 2nd funding phase)
Acronym SynErgie I & II
Project partner
Grantor Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action
Duration March 2015 – May 2018 (1st funding phase), Oct. 2019 – Jul. 2022 (2nd funding phase)

Research field
E+E

(E+E > Energy + Environment
I+I > Information + Intelligence
M+M > Matter + Materials)
Project content The future power system in Germany will be strongly influenced by the energy transition. Due to the increasing share of renewable energies and the associated fluctuating electricity generation, solutions must be developed to stabilize the power grid, i.e., to align electricity consumption with electricity generation. The SynErgie project aims to research and demonstrate how energy-intensive production processes can be adapted to the fluctuating power supply, thus contributing to the energy transition. Furthermore, this initiative will create the conditions for Germany to become a leading provider of new technologies and processes that connect energy-intensive, individualized industrial processes with the volatile integration of renewable energies
