Project content The issue of health is very important to many citizens and the awareness of health effects is growing in our societies. However, health effects have not yet been sufficiently taken into account in urban and transport planning. Furthermore, there is a lack of basic knowledge on how to deal with the conflicts of health promotion goals with other goals such as accessibility and economically efficient developments.
The purpose of this project is therefore to demonstrate the interdependencies between urban structures, transport systems and health in order to develop health-related conlicting goals in urban and transport development. Ho Chi Minh City and Frankfurt a. M. will be the case studies to investigate the interaction of this three topics, with a focus on air pollution. In addition, ideas from international experts will be collected and strategies for sustainable and health-oriented transport and urban planning will be developed.
